The New York rap scene’s saviours and chroniclers of societal decay.

For ten years the rappers billy woods and ELUCID have been working together on this project named after the controversial oligarch Armand Hammer. They have released six uncompromising and intense albums that regularly make it onto critics’ best album lists – i.e., 2008’s Parafin dominated top rap album lists of A.V. Club as well as Pitchfork. The album Haram from 2021 was fully recorded in collaboration with the cult producer The Alchemist, this year’s release We Buy Diabetic Test Strips features the likes of JPEGMafia, Run The Jewels’ El-P or the saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings. billy woods and ELUCID have their successful solo careers, but when conjoined under the Armand Hammer title, they release recordings sharp as a razor that have the rest of the scene bowing.
