The masters of acidic basslines and hypnotic beats head to Brno for the first time. The Hartnoll brothers AKA Orbital named themselves after the “orbital highway” M25 that circles the more distant parts of London and was influential for the acid house generation escaping from the city to forests for illegal parties. They recorded their first track Chime on their dad’s four track cassette tape machine and when it came out in 1989, it became an unexpected raver anthem. Orbital then grew into studio magicians while still keeping their eccentricity and ferocity of old school rave. For the entirety of the 90s they spat out hits like Are We Here?, Belfast, Satan, Halcyon, On+On, The Box, Saint and their first four long playing records are absolute classics of British electronic music. In 2004 they split up only to reunite four years later. Another break came between the years 2014 and 2017 but they returned to the stages once again after that. Orbital’s shows are definitely not just about pressing the space bar, Phil and Paul Hartnoll deconstruct their tracks to atoms, pull out unexpected and bizarre samples and make you dance like it’s 1992.
