In their music, the Polish electronic duo Wczasy mixes mutant synth-pop with elements of dark-wave. Their energetic and minimalist hits evoke the atmosphere of the Polish state of emergency of the beginning of the eighth decade where the subdued euphoria merges with decadence and a feeling of absence of time. Simultaneously, they include a considerable amount of darkness and claustrophobia. Wczasy consist of Bartłomiej Maczaluk and Jakub Żwirełło and exist since 2016. They garnered a considerable amount of attention with their debut Zawody which got a significant response from both critics and fans and was included in many best album lists of the Polish alternative music in 2018. Their second record To wszytko kiedyś minie came out in 2021. Odd grainy videos and wild concerts are also a part of Wczasy. They draw from the popular 80s aesthetic but never slip into parody or retro. Their music grants us the option to relive the 80s with all of their hopes and anxieties.
